AGAVE’S PIÑAS

The important thing is the heart or pineapple, not the pencas, that’s why they are pruning. The first pruning is at 3 years and you have to wait between 8 and 10 years for the pineapple to be mature enough.

At this stage the leaves or pencas are removed, the pineapple is extracted from the base and shaved so that only the heart of the pineapple remains.
